London Itinerary!

So you may or may not know that I’ll be studying abroad this July for three glorious weeks, as a summer transient student with Florida State University. Needless to say, I’m super-excited! I get to learn all about digital and networked media design, production, and management, while living in Central London. What could be better than that? Also falling in love with a bookish young Brit, you say? Well, I wouldn’t say no to that, either.  ;-)

I recently received a rough outline of what our days will consist of while in the program. I have to say, it sounds good to me. We will be visiting:

  • Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, and the London Eye
  • the Olympic Village
  • Regent’s Park, Primrose Hill, and Abbey Road
  • Oxford
  • the British Museum (I’ll be returning many times, I’m sure)
  • St. Paul’s and the Museum of London
  • Stonehenge  :-D  and Salisbury
  • the Globe Theater and Thames
  • the British Library and Platform 9 and 3/4 (!!!)
  • Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, and tea in the Orangery
  • Hampton Court
  • Buckingham Palace

And for our last weekend in Europe, we’re going to Paris, oh darn:

  • the Louvre
  • La Tour Eiffel
  • la Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Paris
  • a short coach tour and a cruise on la Seine

I’m fascinated by Celtic Brittany, or Bretagne, and so am thinking of ditching Paris that Saturday and Sunday to tramp about the coastal countryside instead. In particular, I’d like to visit the department of Morbihan, where the Arthurian Broceliande is rumored to coincide with Paimpont Forest and Carnac’s megaliths form alignments and dolmens in dense and mysterious succession.

But who knows——I could end up glutting around the City of Lights, brie in one hand, a baguette in the other… and a listless smile only the indulgent understand.
